Axminster Surveyors

Wessex Surveyors provide a full range of property advice in Axminster, including:

Axminster is a small market town overlooking the River Axe on the eastern border of Devon. It was founded in Celtic times and became famous for the manufacture of carpets. Thomas Witty started making hand tufted carpets in Axminster in 1755 and made carpets for Carlton House and the Brighton Pavilion in the 1790s.

Historically, Axminster was on the coaching route from Exeter to London. A noted coaching hotel, the George, is now one of Axminster’s many listed buildings, which include a number of early stone rubble farmhouses.

The town is home to the Axe Vale Festival which takes place every June and celebrates local gardening and rural crafts. Lyme Regis is just five miles to the south, a gateway to the beautiful Jurassic coastline and World Heritage site.

Axminster is well-connected by road, lying at the intersection of the A358 and A35 Honiton to Southampton road, with Taunton a commutable 25 miles away up the A358. Axminster is on the Exeter to Waterloo railway line.

Wessex Surveyors cover both Axminster and its surrounding villages including Yawl, Colyton, Seaton, Chardstock, Tatworth, Shute and Thorncombe.

If you’re looking to buy or sell property in Axminster, it pays to speak with experienced property experts. Wessex Surveyors have helped hundreds of Devon property owners with a range of services including valuations, surveys, resolution of property disputes and planning applications.
